Silicon Valley Start-up Developed New Platform To Find Apps Easier and Help ... - San Francisco Chronicle (press release)

AppFairs develops new platform to curate iPhone, iPad and iPod apps by age, price, device and category.

Los Gatos, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2012

AppFairs Inc, a new technology built by Silicon Valley start-up, has developed an exciting concept to easily find children's apps in the Apple App Store through a unique filtered search. AppFairs filters apps by age, price, device or categories. If your child likes dinosaurs, you can filter out the dinosaur apps easily from iTunes, or choose to only filter educational apps. "Finding an educational app for child is now easy," states Brett Alter, president of AppFairs. Alter recalls buying an iPad in 2010 for the purpose of educational apps for his 6 year old daughter. But, Alter was disappointed because the educational apps were hard to find to the point of almost being nonexistent. So, Alter along with his business partners came up with a filtering system and easy to use interface -- AppFairs was born.

The AppFairs portals are used by schools and non-profit organizations for their fundraising efforts. AppFairs offers a unique and modern way to raise funds rather than just relying on traditional book fairs, candy sales and eScrip drives. The back-end interface is easy to use where schools can easily customize their portal with their logos, school colors and school information to better market to their families who are buying apps anyway. AppFairs will be making their debut at the National PTA conference in San Jose on June 21 at the San Jose Convention Center.

"Schools are facing a dire financial crisis, and fundraising efforts are critical to keep school programs and activities going," noted Alter. "We are modernizing school fundraising efforts by adding another revenue stream. AppFairs is a wonderful addition to the Scholastic Book Fair, candy drives and wrapping paper drives -- and with the "coolness factor" of children iPod, iPhone and iPad app sales."

AppFairs does not require any personal information and no credit card registration is ever needed. The school benefits because it requires almost no school resources and there's no inventory to store, sort or distribute.
