Apple’s iPod line could get a revamp to see features parallel to that of iPhone.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that Apple will be updating the iPod touch with a classy new design.
Kuo, who predicted launch of the next-generation iPhone in September, said Apple will also bring “all-new†iPod touch and iPod nano models this fall.
Incidentally, there have not been any major upgrades on both iPod touch and nano since last year.
According to the popular Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple might be introducing a 4-inch screen on the new iPod touch.
Macotakara also claimed that CPU and other specs might remain same as iPhone 4S. iPod touch will supposedly have different back-case design, which will be a “buffed aluminium oneâ€. It might also include in-cell touch display technology.
Just that? Rumours are also doing rounds that the new iPod nano will have an integrated iTunes media services for downloading and streaming digital files.
While keeping fingers crossed on the latest update, it is fitting to note here how Apple’s iPhone and iPad success has overshadowed the pocket-sized device to play music.
Not surprisingly, the iPod line saw a 15 percent decline year-over-year, according to the company’s second quarter of the year.
The last two generations of iPod nano as a matter of fact have had the same design. As for iPod touch, besides addition of white models and lower pricing, there were hardly any major hardware changes since last year.
Should we say the success of the iPhone and iPad has resulted in iPod being a less desirable product? Probably not, if the revamped iPod touch and nano could bring back the spotlight.
