A homeless Vashon Island man is accused of leaving his iPod, filled with video and images of child pornography, at a ball field on the island.
Gregory Richard Garcia, 46, is charged first degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit content.
The iPod was found April 18 at the ball fields next to the Vashon Food Bank. According to a King County Sheriffâs Office probable cause document, a man picked it up thinking it was his. When he got home, he discovered adult porn videos and photos. He also saw folders with titles indicating they may contain material showing pre-teens in sexual acts.
The investigating deputy watched the videos, which allegedly showed adult men having sex with young girls.
The probable cause documents indicate that one of the videos showed Garcia turning the camera on himself. The deputy immediately recognized him as homeless person in the area.
A detective who also reviewed the content on Garciaâs iPod and laptop said they contained several videos of child pornography.
Some residents allegedly told the deputy they had seen Garcia with a laptop at several locations that offered free WiFi. They also had seen him hanging out in a parking lot next to the Vashon Dance Academy, a place frequented by young girls.
Garcia allegedly admitted to owning and viewing the child porn, but claimed he had not molested children.
Prosecutors requested $100,000 bail for Garcia, saying he is a flight risk.
