Looks like Ikeaâs Uppleva was just the first in a coming deluge of wired furniture. Next up is the Spectral SCALA Table 2.0, a TV stand packing built-in speakers and an iPod/iPhone dock, which is being displayed now at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.
Unlike Uppleva, Table 2.0 wonât actually come with a television built in, though there is rotatable television mount that should fit most of the major flat screen televisions currently on the market. The iPod/iPhone dock allows music from those devices to be played over the speakers or transferred to your smart television.
The built-in speaker system boasts surround sound, and packs in an integrated subwoofer of your choosing. Table 2.0 also includes the Spectral infrared link system, which allows you to link eight different devices to the television, even when the flaps and drawers of the table are closed, which should help cut down on excess wires. Add in a scratch-resistant glass finish and loads of storage space for all your extras, and youâve got the television stand of the future.
Unfortunately, the television stand of the future doesnât come cheap. The Spectral SCALA Table 2.0 is selling for £2898, or about $4,584.
