It seems that the jailbreak community is going to have yet another opportunity to taste the "la fée verte" (the green fairy) and enjoy the cherished freedom. Yes, the popular "Absinthe" jailbreak tool is apparently set to be back in action with a makeover to get the latest iOS 5.1.1 jailbroken untethered.
French iOS hacker Pod2g is known for not keeping his mouth shut regarding any updates related to his work. On Sunday, he stood up to his reputation once again and announced via his Twitter page that the highly anticipated untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 was almost ready for public release and should be available in the next few days.
"Thanks to awesome work of @planetbeing and @pimskeks, we're near ready for a release. Now it's a matter of days," Pod2g tweeted.
It appears from Pod2g's tweet that the upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will be the result of the hard work of not just one individual, but of a team of jailbreakers. With Pod2g publicly appreciating the assistance of "planetbeing" and "pimskeks," there has apparently been yet another assembling of skillful iOS jailbreakers as was the case with the "Jailbreak Dream Team" while attempting to create the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak earlier this year.
When it comes to the devices that would be compatible with the new jailbreak tool, there seems to be very less of a disappointment as it is expected to cover the majority of devices, running iOS 5.1.1. Here's the updated list of devices that the new jailbreak will support:

Following Pod2g's revelation, another member of the jailbreak team, "xvolks," took to his Twitter page and said that he had managed to jailbreak his iPhone 3GS untethered on iOS 5.1.1. It appeared from his tweet that the new jailbreak will indeed be called "Absinthe."
"I have my new bootrom 3gs jailbroken untethered on iOS 5.1.1 thanks to the new Absinthe v2.0-rc1. I'm currently testing with iPhone4...," xvolks tweeted.
The hacker didn't stop by merely confirming the name of the jailbreak tool. He uploaded a video showing Absinthe version 2.0 in action on an iPhone 4 GSM running iOS 5.1.1.
"I've tested Absinthe v2 on my iPhone 4 GSM, iOS 5.1.1. It jailbroke it flawlessly. I've took a (bad) video of it ;)," xvolks tweeted.
